A notice to travellers, whilst in Victoria please check out the Ada Tree in Gippsland. This was the tallest tree in the world standing at over 120metres tall. However, many years ago it was struck by lightning and now the magnificent giant stands currently at 76meters! It's a beautiful rainforest walk to the tree - and when you get there it's well worth it! Contact the Department of Sustainability and Environment for directions and more info. Or head to NooJee from Melbourne and ask the locals!!!!!

To all the beautiful people out there who care about our environment - please do what you can to help with the current environmental situation and some terrible decisions that have recently been made by our governments! Please support the Wilderness Society as they are doing so much to help protect our precious environment! Our festival is dedicated to creating environmental awareness and respect, we are full believers that we can make a difference. Please look out for organisations such as the Sea Sheppard, Greenpeace, and of course the Wilderness Society and there are many many more! There are also many festivals around the world that are also doing what they can to help make a better future for our children, please support them. Together we can make a lesser footprint on this Earth.

AKASHA FESTIVAL was the best festival I have been to in ages! Thanks so much guys, I am looking forward to the next few years of this already. Nice to have a festival where people's safety and comfort are a major priority. My kids had a great time. With 7 years of experience of making food stands in festivals, We created a high standard of both culinary and visual restaurant. We are making 12 different kinds of pizza & 6 kinds of Italian fucacha. All backed in authentic Italian oven that operates bouts on wood or gas. Our pizzeria is standing in the German hygienic gastro standard. We put a high light for an ecological work and the use of organic, natural and recycled products. We do our very best to create as less as possible UN bio-degradable trash. I have nothing but respect for the people that attended the Akasha festival on the weekend. I found them to be polite, kind and very welcoming to people of all ages and backgrounds. Perhaps some of us locals could learn a thing or two about real community from these people, rather than vilifying them for the music they listen to, or the bit of pot they may or may not smoke. As Beannie said, that many locals at a party and there would have been no end to the trouble and fights and damage to property. We should be welcoming these gentle and genuine people back, perhaps then some of their kindness and generosity may rub off on us.

Hello all fellow doofgoers! Looking forward to my first akasha festival experience, and I will no doubt have an amazing time. Just wondering if anyone is leaving Melbourne anytime after say 7pm? I was planning on catching the train, but it's a hell of a squeeze getting to spencer on time after work. I live in the northern suburbs so if you're around that area, cool, however i'm quite willing to meet people anywhere where there's a train/tram stop, wherever's convenient for you. Will provide petrol money, food, always good music and an all round good time and definitely no troubles! Get back to me with a msg/email (can't answer at work) and we'll work something out. Not selling tickets in Sydney, but if you are passing through Melbourne on the way there are a few shops in the 'tickets' section of this site. You can also purcahse tickets from Datakey Internet Cafe in Raymond Street Sale. They are open business hours and will specifically selling tickets on Friday the 23rd. So you can get a ticket in the festival town on your way through. You can also pay at the gate! Gate price will be resonable, however if possible to purchase a pre sale ticket it would be worth it.

If you are passing through Melbourne on the way there are plenty of shops. They are listed under 'tickets' on this site. You can even purchase from the Easytix office which is right in the heart of the city on corner of Swanston and Collins Streets Melbourne. If you are heading through the festival town of Sale during business hours you can purchase tickets from Datakey Internet Cafe in Raymond Street Sale.

PLEASE DO NOT TURN UP EARLY TO THE FESTIVAL! If you are not part of the set-up crew, or have a market pass please do not arrive before Friday the 23rd at 9am. There is plenty of accomodation in Sale and there are camping grounds and caravan parks in the area. We will ask anyone who has arrived early to seek alternative accomodation untill the gates open. Sale is close to the beach, so anyone traveling may want to condsider heading to the beach first!

MARK THE BOOMERANG MAN........... Mark is a professional boomerang instructor who will be giving a boomerang demonstration at Akasha on Saturday afternoon. Details in the program. He will also be hosting a kite flying work shop where patrons can participate. Please look out for this around 4pm Saturday aftrenoon.

INTERNET TICKET SALES Tickets can still be purchased via www.easytix.com.au right up untill the event starts. However from now on tickets will not be posted out. Tickets can be collected at the gate with your invoice number when you arrive. So if you are on the road now, tickets can still be purchased with a credit card and the invoice to be brought to gate on arrival.

Tickets can still be purchased online after this date, however an invoice and id willl be required at the gate for collection of tickets. The festival site is a long way from any of the fires. It is still in beautiful condition. The river flows strongly and the environment is full of energy. Due to the lack of rain there will be a total fire ban at Akasha 2007, please understand the Australia bush is very dry this year especially.

By popular demand we will be providing details about how to get to the festival via public transport. This info will soon be available in the location section of this site. There are two big tains to Sale daily, and from the station it is a cheap taxi ride to the site. If need be we will be providing a bus service also!! We are also encouraging car pooling to Akasha Festival. Please think about the environment, and it's a cheaper journey petrol wise for everyone!!

I had the most amazng time over the 48 hours I spent at Akasha. I found joy wherever I roamed and the music was, for the most part, rockin' the whole weekend. Unfortunately I had to leave before Gav Martin, Heath Myers and Simon Sleiker played, but the smile stayed on my face, even as I slept, all the way back to Melbourne on the train. The party was the perfect size and I hope it remains the same for next year as I cannot face aother Rainbow/Earthcore sized event again. THNX AKASHA

i went to akasha festival friday night and stayed until friday morning then went home, that night was an unreal experience. saturday night was even better with a much larger crowd. the fire twirlers were also incredible. that was one awesome experience considering it was my first festival i have been to. it was also an early 18th present from my boyfriend thank you!

LOCATION: Take M1 Freeway East out of Melbourne towards Sale. When at the town of Sale, turn left at Mobil petrol station towards Bairnsdale. After 2kms turn left at the United petrol station onto the Maffra Sale Road. Continue on this road for 7kms and turn left at Cotos Lane. You will then see signs to the festival site.
